Separate ways

SEPARATE WAYS.

She could be the girl next door
Or someone from another floor
Any one you could meet
Or just another girl in the street

He could be like you or me
He could be anyone you’d see
Anyone in this town
He could be an artist or a clown

She always had the upper hand
Destroyed the castle he made of sand
She’s got the lion’s share
And she has got nothing to declare

They met at the market place
The finest girl he could face
Signed the papers at the city hall
But he never cared to throw her a ball.

In her sleep she was all elbows
They were neither friends nor foes
Now she’s gone away for all he knows
While he’s living where the cold wind blows

She always had the upper hand
Destroyed the castle he made of sand
She has got the lion’s share
And she has got nothing to declare

She didn’t want him in her room
She laid him in a tomb.

He disappointed her for years
He hardly notized her tears
Evilness fucked up his brain
Tried to be nice but it was all in vain

She grabbed him by the throat
Never helped him with his load
She hit him with a spade
When offered an axe she chose the blade.

She always had the upper hand
Destroyed the castle he made of sand
She has got the lion’s share
And she has got nothing to declare

He tried to make her stay
He served her breakfast on a tray
He said, shall I be mother
She said, don’t even bother

He tried to reach her anyway
Tried again to make her stay
The display showed one unanswered call
The telephone died as the airplane stalled

She always had the upper hand
Destroyed the castle he made of sand
She has got the lion’s share
And she has got nothing to declare

She didn’t want him in her room
She laid him in a tomb.

She wanted to travel with him
But the chances that he’d travel were slim
She wanted him to take her to a dance
When he refused he blew his last chance

Her bitter words were daunting
Killed the man she was haunting
He is still missing her
But she is warm in her fur

She didn’t want him in her room
She laid him in a tomb.
