A rainy day

A RAINY DAY.

It’s a rainy day, drops are falling on my window
The town is sleeping, things go rather slow.
I get out of bed, go to check my mail-box
In a way it’s quite a paradox.
People don’t wanna walk,
They don’t even wanna talk.
People don’t wanna walk,
They don’t even wanna talk.

It’s a dizzy morning, the air is filled with fog
For breakfast there’s coffey in the mug.
I cook bacon and some eggs
But I can hardly move my legs.
I would like to walk,
And I would like to talk.
I would like to walk,
And I would like to talk.

At noon the postman brings some letters
Mostly bills from firms about to get us
To pay for stuff an’ things that we don’t need
It’s a strange life that we lead.
Wouldn’t you like to walk?
An’ wouldn’t you like to talk?
Wouldn’t you like to walk?
An’ wouldn’t you like to talk?

In the afternoon I go to fix my bike
If I don’t I might have to hike
Or walk on my feet from town to town
When the tyres are all worn down
Would you like to ride,
Or would you rather hide?
Would you like to ride,
Or would you rather hide?

For supper I cook a fish
With wedgetables it’ll make a tasty dish.
We all have to eat and drink
And breathe and remember to think.
Would you like to eat,
Or be obsolete.
Would you like to eat,
Or be obsolete.

In the evening I turn on the telly
And scratch my back or my belly.
I lean back and doze
A fly is on my nose.
Would you like to see,
Would you be with me?
Would you like to see,
Would you be with me?

Sometimes I write a song
To hope that people can get along
An’ that ev’rythin’s all right
But there ain’t nobody in sight.
Do you want to hear
Is it too horrible for your ear
Do you want to hear
Or is it too horrible for your ear?

When I have to go to sleep
I have a beer or two just to keep
Me from thinking too much about life
Or from going to get a knife.
Would you like to cut?
Hope you’re better off with what you’ve got
Would you like to cut?
Hope you’re better off with what you’ve got.

I often sing my songs an’ play
Hope there’ll be another day
Makes me forget in a way
Have you got somethin’ to say?
Do you want to talk
Don’t tell me to take a walk.
Do you want to talk
Don’t tell me to go take a walk.

Do you want to talk
Don’t tell me to take a walk.
Do you want to talk
Don’t tell me to go take a walk.
